Eliade's Ideas
A sacred event for myself would be my sorority's founded day. Every November 17th Phi Sigma Sigmas gather together to celebrate our sorority and to be thankful that amazing women put our sorority together. This year Phi Sigma Sigma will be turning 100 years; we are beyond excited. For this great achievement we will be in New York for a week.

Life as a leaf
The video has a leaf traviling a river while the singer sings. Just like a leaf on a tree we begin our life somewhere. The leaf starts falling into the river where like Eliades speaks of the cleans. A form of rebirth or a new start comes from starting new with a clens like a water baptism. The leaf is in the water being clensed and then it travels onto the tree wich is home to the leaf. The leaf belongs on the tree that is home just as it is to all leafs; to us we are on earth living but then we end our life and to some heaven is earth and others have another idea of after life. And then the tree is dead at night but when the sun rises for a new day the tree is young and full of life (full of leafs on its branches). The leaf goes through a whole life and its process with in the video. Every state the leaf goes through Eliades mentions it; birth, clens, home.

a sacred center
One of the places I truly enjoy visiting and I honestly wish I could visit more often is Mexico. During certain times my family and I go to Guanajuato Mexico I love the culture and the closeness I feel when visiting Mexico. When I go to Mexico it feels as if all my worries and stress have fallen off of my shoulders and are left behind far far away. I do know that part of it is that it is a vacation but one of the best parts is hanging out with my family that lives in Mexico their mentality is different and we compare and share everyday.
My name
Briana-
All of the definitions for Briana that I found are Gaelic. The most common definition is; Noble, strong, virtuous; hill. An interesting definition to my name is the following one--"Your first name of Briana has given you a friendly, likeable nature, and you could excel in artistic, dramatic, and musical expression.
With this name, you desire the finer things in life, but you do not always have the resolve and vitality to put forth the effort necessary to fulfil your desires.
Your emotional feelings are easily affected and you will always be involved in other people's problems as a result of your overly sympathetic nature.
Though the name Briana creates the urge to understand and help people, we draw to your attention that it causes an emotional intensity and sensitivity that is hard to control.
This name, when combined with the last name, can frustrate happiness, contentment, and success, as well as cause health weaknesses in the fluid and nervous system." as I read this definition I could truly relate to it. I felt as if it was describing me.
There is no personal relation in the family to my name. I am the only Briana in my entire family and we are a large family. My parents just liked the name and the meaning.

Song Assignment
In the song “Series of Dreams,” Bob Dylan uses the symbols and archetypes of running, falling, and climbing to express the theme of one enhancing themselves, changing, freedom, and one coming to reality. In the last stanza of the song Dylan writes of running which one can feel freedom by doing so. Anthony Stevens states that “This [running] can be associated with the same feelings of freedom as experienced in dreams of flying” in his book “Ariadne’s Clue” (Stevens 421). Falling represents a failure or when one comes to reality:
“The fall is thus a mythic representation of humanity is transformation from hunter to farmer. As hunter-gatherers, we obeyed nature, we adapted to our ecological niche, we accepted our lot as the dependent’s of God, grateful for whatever it pleased him to provide.” (Stevens 419).
Dylan expresses to his listeners that dreams can sometimes be unrealistic and that the action of falling can be what it takes to bring one back to earth. Ones dreams are a form of one trying to better their lives that they live “[…] ‘Climbing manouevre’ […]. Self-enhancement in the sociobiological sense relates to activation of only part of the archetypal endowment of the individual.” (Stevens 325). All of these archetypes support Bob Dylan in wanting to express what he thinks or feels towards goals and dreams in life.
